Java? smells like coffee to me

i had a Java assessment today. i'm not sure how i did. definitely not one've my brilliant moments in life, but yet not one've the worst (then again..). i think it's quite ridiculous what they expect us to do in less than 9 hours of lesson. then i hatched an evil plan.

i referred to a friend's past code and prayed that whatever i hammered out would work out in the end. i tried to create a smokescreen of knowledge, when i was basically a wall of bluffs. ok, so the coding worked. then came the question and answer. i felt like a person who was naked in a changing room with drawn curtains, just hoping and praying that no one tries to expose me.

the tutor asked the first question and i felt the curtains fall, causing a draft that made my balls shrink. there i was, naked of knowledge, desperately trying to cling on to whatever fabric of wisdom i learnt before.

it didn't help that the guy next to me was a Java whizz, but he had BO (yes body odour, not some techno mumbo jumbo) so that's that. yes, i can be bitchy.

all the while, Java was coffee to me, a fishing spot to alvin and a second language to gary. but gary's a computer engineer, i'm an electrical engineer. enough gripes, i just hope i pass.

Diet Sprite?

yes kids, it is sprite zero. another innovative product from the coca cola company. isn't it amazing how soft drinks can be void of fat and carbohydrate and yet have an energy value? if only tuh kar (pig trotters) can be so amazing. or why not have hokkien mee and char kway teow without the calories? i'm sure if chai tow kway was a carbonated drink flavour, it'd have zero calories. hell, it may even be good for you. i leave you with a quote from alvin:
"zero fat, zero protein, zero carbo, zero calories? zero taste.."
Disclaimer: this is not a flame, we've not tried it before, we're not slamming the taste, we're just passing lame comments.
p.s.: note that i've been disclaiming stuff, it's hard to joke when soft drink magnates and and other bodies of authority suffer the lack of a sense of humour.

Fast and Furious : Tokyo Drift

i'm a little lazy to post DnD pictures so i'll just rant a little on the above mentioned flick. i'll try to keep spoilers out of the way but if it was spoilt by my rant, too bad. however, i always love the way hollywood can skew thinking beyond logical boundaries but if that movie portrays tokyo accurately, i'm going there coz:
  1. the tokyo student body are hip and happening, with races going on every night in carparks.
  2. japanese chicks are hot, have ample assets (well if they don't their bodies are great anyway), own neat rides.
  3. when not racing, there's always a dj spinning some hot shit in the carpark where the forementioned japanese babes are dancing in skimpy outfits, in every guys favourite combination of highs and lows. low top + high skirt + gyrating hips = i love tokyo!
  4. the japanese education system seem to have Drifting 101 in their curriculum, hence resulting in any japanese school student knowing how to drift.
  5. they probably have student subsidies on neat rides and tires and have nocturnal ECA's such as "Drifting in Mountain Passes". i heard it's good for 5 AUs. if you don't end up in the ravine.
  6. all races, whether within a carpark or up in the mountain passes, can be caught with live streaming in high resolution on your handphone.
  7. drifting circles around and burning rubber in the shape of 'O's around a japanese babe's ride will most certainly get you her number.

don't you guys just love tokyo? catch my drift so far?(hur)

Disclaimer: anyone who quits school and goes to tokyo based on this rant and ends up utterly disappointed, it is not my fault. all i have to say is wish it were real? so do i. sayonara.

'twas a good night

ah yes, such a lovely night. festivities are on. everyone's celebrating union day(yeah right)

ah is THE cozy corner. here we have two of our lovely female neighbours joining in the drinki...i mean fun. note the two guys wearing the same singlet, how manly. and i thought PC loved me. and i thought yehyang loved me too. you two sluts.

here we have another shot of cozy corner, except yehyang decided not to get so high (hur). alvin would bitch he's not in the picture but he was a blurred figure in the first picture already so, too bad *queue evil laughter*

ok this might look bad but let me make a few things clear:

  1. we didn't finish four bottles of drinks...the carlsberg was from another day.
  2. the cigarette buds in the container were not done in one night.
  3. two of the three packs of cigarettes are empty BUT we didn't start out with 3 full packs anyway.
  4. no wine bottles, beer bottles, ice buckets, wine glasses, lighters, coasters, blue table cloth, ash trays, heineken coasters, cigarette packs and cigarettes were harmed in the making of this movie. ok, photo shot. bite me.

Oh and the shit keeps flowing

yes i'm still up at this hour, trying to cover as much material as i can. today is union day, not like it matters much, just another excuse to take a short break from all the madness. after all, the union has become somewhat like a scapegoat for the higher-ups. me thinks what needs to happen is a massive revolt of an apocalyptic scale, risking life and limb. but then again, i think most've us are too passive and lazy. after all, our cries are mainly heard but not heeded so what's the point sometimes. i quote my secondary school roommate, "Life's a bitch, so be a dog and fuck it."
Tired, with my brains oozing out my ears and disturbed by a video on gary's blog(something about minimalistic magic), i don't think i've ever asked for divine intervention this early into the academic year. well, i guess this is just one of my real rants. oops my eyelid just fell, better go crash.

Conscience in overdrive

ok...things are getting a little out of hand now. last week i dreamt i dabao one quiz and was severely distraught about it and woke up. this morning, i woke up from a dream of my mum giving me a severe lecture, as in so-angry-i-wanna-disown-you kinda lecture. i sure it hope it wasn't the wine.

Mmmm....red wine

brown brothers tarrango 2004. personally i think it's a good wine for its price. not overly full bodied...goes down easily...slurp *hick*

Personal Galaxy? Yes please!

okay...it's not on my ceiling. but i wish it were. i bought something like that about a year back from toys 'r' us at jp. it was quite a disappointment. but then again, at the price of SGD50 versus this baby at USD230, i think i won't be as disappointed with this as compared to giraffe boy's cheapo product. oh well, i still love walking around in toy 'r' us anyway.

Presenting John Petrucci

good morning ladies and gentlemen, first post of the new day. a youtube video of one of my guitar heroes, John Petrucci. it's a 6 min clip so have some patience for his technical brilliance. he plays a Chopin piano piece on his guitar

hope you enjoyed Petrucci, the guitarist of one of my favourite progressive rock bands, Dreamtheater. heh...who thought his slow version was slow?

Imagery

ok i was taking a shit in my usual hostel toilet when i noticed this pattern at the bottom left of the door. don't ask me what the white stuff is although my guess is bleach or something. tell me, what do you see? i'm wondering if my neighbours noticed this before. i wonder if gary, sebastian, david and yehyang noticed it. maybe it was a result from their lemonparty. heh.
anyway, for those who have not opened their minds, do you see a face of an old man? the streaks on the left is the hair, which lead upwards to something like right of the forehead. the emptiness below the patch is the right eye which is shrouded in shadows. then there's the nose and upper lip. Hope you see it.

Slurp some vino

enough about fucked up bus services provided to the university. meet my three new friends, the two of the brown brothers, tarrango and chenin blanc, and one black tower. a little wine helps the circulation. in the background my gay red mousepad, my black keyboard and my 19 inch LCD screen. mmm...a picture of things i like.

Absurd

absurd is waiting 45 minutes for a fucking bus to arrive. ok, given that not one, or two, or three but five to six buses did arrive, however each was more packed than Geylang on one for one night. school has increasing candidature but somehow some services remain the same, even though clearly its current state cannot handle the sheer increase of population. canteens have become reminders of the Hello Kitty queues...like wtf dude. world class? a long way more my friend, a long fucking way. i probably will become america's top model sooner(okay maybe not).

Introducing..the Nixie Clock

isn't that one of the coolest things you have ever seen? how i wish i could build one of these. however i just look at the plans and sob like a baby, so much for being a EEE student *hangs head in shame*. check this linky for more DIYed Nixies. great stuff from Mike's Electric Stuff.

also, as gary, yehyang and probably tens of thousands of netizens can attest, you can really find anything on youtube.com.

OMG - it's 179

finally running abit after a long while. it's not my aim to obtain a six pack(unless it's heineken..hah), but i guess i'm doing it so i can fit better into clothes, regain my long lost cheekbones and and a relatively pointed chin(as compared to just a round face now). 179 route used to be much more do-able. me thinks the easiest way to lose weight is still to cut off both my legs...but i think my bmi might still be over the healthy range hurhur. le tired~

Click

watched Click today. watched it with my other half. quite a meaningful show to me. the gist is basically on how we prioritise our lives and how we should savour every moment, bitter or sweet, and fully take in the flavours of every experience in life. that's as best as i can put it without spoiling the show. overall feel good with some touching moments. One thing for sure though, Kate Beckinsale is one hot babe.

Beautiful things in life

i am a sucker for pretty skies...even if the bloody huge balloon is kinda distracting. such a lovely sight, just like my sony ericsson k800i, which was used to take this lovely picture.

this was taken while the sun was going down on the NDP of 2006. venue was the national stadium, not the very well tended patch of grass. it would've been my third time going, the first time was in 2004.

i thank my beautiful, beloved other half for the opportunities to see the pretty sights the past three years, all the beautiful fireworks, the million and one red and white balloons. oh well, live for the here and now. Let my great grandson worry about the global warming from the burning chemicals and the fishes dying from choking on deflated red and white rubber balloons, i'll be long gone.

Virgin post

some people blog for fame, some for fun, some coz they're bored. i'm blogging coz i have not tried it before. i believe that in life everything must be tried at least once and hence, here i am. will this serve as an avenue to express my anger, joy, pain and boredom? and even if it does, will it matter who reads it? i don't know, life's too short to think of such insignificant things. enjoy the ride
